Many of you may be familiar with homeopathy, the idea that greatly diluted potions can help cure disease, our little demonstration points out how ridiculous this is.
You would have to drink almost 4 earths worth of water to get one molecule of active ingredient.
No mechanism known to all of science could possibly lead to this kind of dilution causing any effect to the body, in fact tap water is more likely to have molecules of the active ingredient by contamination then homeopathic remedies.
This week in Sciencism, Humans closest ape-like ancestors may have returned to the trees, alternate theories for the evolution of complex features, world’s oldest dinosaur embryo discovered, the microbiome and child nutrition and power from fat-bergs. Our Science Issue is the lack of feathers in the latest Jurassic Park, we also play Science or Fiction, the science quiz and Dan presents Last Week in the Past.
The Sciencism team interview James Carr from the Texas Tech University who talks to us about the endocrinology behind stress and hunger and his work in environmental endocrinology. He also talks to us about education in the USA and the impact that religion can have on students.
This week in Sciencism host Ross Balch is joined by Andrew Stephenson and Natalie McKirdy. We discus; Cosmic Microwave Background, Chimeric Leukemia Treatment, Graphene, Comet Killed the Dinosaurs? Mitochondrial Gene Therapy, Voyager Leaves the Solar System?
This week on Sciencism host Ross Balch is joined by, Andrew Stephenson, Dan Abrahmsen and Natalie McKirdy to discuss; the most recent mars rover findings, early 4 winged birds, obese mothers and the risk of disease in the foetus, the “confirmation” of the Higgs, earthquakes precipitate gold, development of the wallaby, HeLa cells have their genome sequenced, is the kilogram loosing weight. And we critically analyse if a meteorite carried life to the planet earth. Dan tells us about last week in the past.
In this weeks episode of Sciencism Ross, Dan and Andrew discus bone marrow niches, evidence for dark matter, discovering extra terrestrial planets, brain to brain rat interfaces, and discovery of a new Van Allen belt. We also discuss the merits of human space travel, science or fiction and last week in the past.
